Using Decision-making and Entrepreneurial Thinking
Earthday.org has officially announced that the 50th anniversary of Earth Day is going digital. This will be the first time that the annual event will be held digitally on April 22nd due to the challenges that several communities are facing with COVID-19. They stated, "Due to these circumstances, April 22 will mark the first Digital Earth Day, a global digital mobilization to address the most urgent threats to people and the planet." This is a great example of using entrepreneurial thinking!
The efforts to promote a healthier planet on this special day will be shifted to "new digital strategies and resources" in order for people to celebrate safely. Earthday.org is taking the right measures to prioritize health and safety and is committed to making Earth Day 50 happen despite the cancellations and closures of businesses and schools.
Yes, it is still possible to celebrate from home! Earthday.org is offering free resources and activities online. For all teachers that may be required to continue class activities from home, there is an education resource library for lessons and activities that you can do with your students. We also have our own page with plenty of useful resources that you can use in the classroom here.
Earthday.org is currently making the changes to digital platforms and will notify us shortly with ways for everyone to celebrate Earth Day's 50th anniversary. For more information, you can read the official press release from Earthday.org here.
Now it is your turn to use entrepreneurial thinking! What is one small thing you can do to reduce the amount of damage to the earth?
